I am beyond disgusted with the Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital (RVC). For a clinic claiming to be a global leader, their management is a masterclass in bureaucratic hypocrisy and clinical neglect.
The "Urgency" Hypocrisy:
The vet initially stressed the "extreme urgency" of my pet’s condition, quoting a massive fee for a procedure originally discussed for a Thursday. Then, without any clinical justification, they unilaterally delayed this "urgent" surgery to the following week. If a pet’s condition is critical enough to warrant high-risk intervention, how is a week-long delay acceptable? It’s clear the "urgency" was only about the price tag, not the animal’s suffering.
Communication & Medical Failure:
My urgent emails were ignored for 4 days while my pet was self-mutilating and bleeding. Their only intervention in two weeks has been a basic painkiller, which has been completely insufficient for the evolving tissue growth and intense itching my pet is suffering from.
Double Standards on Time:
The lack of professional empathy is staggering. When I arrived early for a previous appointment, I was made to wait 40-50 minutes without a word. Today, when I was delayed by 15-20 minutes, they flatly refused to see us and cancelled the slot—knowing full well the pet is in distress and needs urgent medication adjustments.
They are happy to take your consultation fee for a "wait-and-see" approach, but offer zero flexibility or humanity when it actually matters. They value their rigid schedule over the life of a small animal. Absolute disgrace to the veterinary profession.

A terrible service they mistreated my pet and over charged me several times and the receptionist is very rude I would never recommend this service to anyone……………..I have since changed my mind and I would like to say that after this misunderstanding with the vets (partly my fault)I have had a very positive experience when taking my pet back there they actually cured my dog and did not over charge me for the service so all in all it is a very safe place to take your pet ❤️🫵

This place doesn't even warrant 1 star. Be warned from my experience.
Officious, overbearing, rude woman with glasses and grey hair on reception shows no empathy, understanding, or compassion, twice within four days reduced me to tears, at a very distressing time. harassing me to settle bill - even just 2 days after paying £600 and bringing in a dead cat. Avoid her if you are distressed with a very sick or dying animal, as she will make you feel 10x worse.
I have terminal cancer, am in a lot of pain, and am still struggling to cope with grief as a result of one cat - declared fit by their vets three days before - suddenly dropping dead in a pool of blood.
I have had the stress and upset of arranging a post-mortem, arranging transportation, arranging cremation - this on top of having a second cat with an unknown health condition, causing me even more worry.
She then cancelled the first appointment I had managed to make, thereby placing my cat at risk of worsening health, as she required an course of urgent injections.
It is not appropriate to be so persistent and intrusive so soon in a time of an owner's grief. I have been left absolutely distraught by a sudden and unexpected death.
Aside from the above, I was left waiting more than TWELVE DAYS for results of blood tests for the second cat, which is absolutely lax and disgraceful.
When one cat was in last December, the horrible vet who checked her in couldn't have been more dismissive or disinterested if she'd tried, so much so that I hesitated before leaving the cat there, wondering if it was wise. More errors on the form I was given to sign, wrong age, wrong coat. She said she'd call after the op to let me know how things went and when I could collect her. Did she? Like hell she did. I was forced to keep phoning at nearly 6pm to find out what was going on, frantic with worry, as not one person had seen fit to contact me. Another 'error' I presume; should be called what it is, incompetence.
Oh and the dead cat post-mortem, well I now question its validity as on an email I received it didn't even get the poor thing's age or coat length right. Oh that was an error they said - and how many more errors, and fatal ones, have they covered up I wonder. They cut the leg off another of my cats, charging me thousands, when I took her in just because she wasn't eating. Then they said she had a dislocated leg. A dislocated leg??? An indoor cat who doesn't go out??? It apparently couldn't be fixed, so they said. I should have asked for a second opinion given what I have found out since.
And to add insult to injury, they refuse to get the old woman who has caused me such distress to apologise to me personally, they just issue a bland, pathetic email full of empty, meaningless platitudes.
And now, while I am presently in a hospice, they are threatening me with legal demands for payment, and phoning me at 8.30am.
Don't bother responding Beaumont, you know this is all true. You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves. I hope karma repays the old woman with interest and this will be on her conscience forever. I wonder how she can sleep at night.

I have seen a handful of vets at RVC for each our cats and we've had nothing but a positive experience.
Every member of their team is compassionate and incredibly professional. They will absolutely go the above and beyond for your pet.
Thank you to Dr Callum Brook and students for our most recent visit.

This place is all about the money and it gives me the ick. They are SUPER expensive and you have to pay everything up front, which is fine but when they continually take 4 weeks to get around to signing an insurance document so you can claim back it's too much! I also don't know any other vet that insists on you paying when booking on the phone. Im going back to my old vets who are a little further away but I didnt feel like they were just in it for the money. Shame.

My main issue with Beaumont is the lack of accountability and communication, particularly around billing.
I paid £55 upfront for my appointment. After I had already left the clinic, I was then sent an additional invoice for an “extended consultation” that was never discussed or agreed to. When I queried this, Beaumont ignored my email for three weeks. It was only after I followed up and held them accountable that the charge was reviewed and removed.
This delay had real consequences. While my money was tied up, I was unable to pay to have my cat examined elsewhere, which is unacceptable when a veterinary practice should be prioritising animal health and welfare.
There also appears to be an excessive focus on money upfront, with rigid payment policies and last-minute cancellations. If appointments can be cancelled due to prioritised emergencies, a deposit system with the balance paid after the consultation would be far more appropriate.
During the visit itself, only a student vet carried out basic checks (temperature, heart rate, abdominal palpation), followed by a brief discussion about diet, which did not justify an extended consultation charge.
This experience is a clear decline from my visit two years ago, when the practice felt far more focused on care rather than billing. I would recommend others seek a veterinary practice with a stronger ethos, clearer communication, and a genuine priority on animal welfare.

Amazing professional staff and care. Have been bringing my pets there for 27 years.

We used to come to this vet around 10 years ago and continued to once we got a new puppy. This was my first choice without fail. However, in recent years they have become ridiculously overpriced. In August their consultation ONLY fee was £55. I went to book an appointment and its gone up £3.
The level of care here used to be outstanding for the animals. Now its just all half hearted. My dog was not checked properly as i paid for a full health check up and the vet or nurse did not do that. I just booked my fur baby another appointment and attatched photos of her sore paws, only to be told “we now require payment before the appointment”. Sorry i booked for 2 weeks away, why on earth would I need to pay for a service I am yet to receive. I just feel its become a business just about the money not the animals. £55 for antibiotics when after doing my research, in reality they are 40% cheaper… yet the vet charge an over excessive amount. Unfortunately I have been looking all week to find a new vet but its not that easy. Its a shame as Beaumont was always the place to go.
Please sir/madam I do not require any response regarding payments or influx in prices as I just wanted to voice my honest opinion which isn’t heard properly through reception or email.

My feisty chinchilla was laid low with tooth problems but after treatment is fit and well. The history taken before the op was thorough and detailed. I was kept informed throughout and meticulously advised on her meds and how to administer. So much care and trouble has been taken every step of the way. I have not, in 20 years of keeping chinchillas, encountered such a high standard of care. Thank you, lovely people :)
